Ethos & Values

Lower Fields Primary Academy is a mixed, comprehensive community primary school serving a diverse community in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

We cater for 430 pupils from Reception to Year Six. In addition, a 26 place Nursery is located in the Foundation Stage Unit. The school is a bright, modern building set in extensive grounds.  The site contains more species of trees than any other school in Bradford! Created in September 2000, the school quickly established a reputation in the community as a caring place of learning where all pupils receive a quality education.

I am very proud to be the Principal of Lower Fields Primary Academy supported by a highly skilled and dedicated team of staff.  Our school is a richly diverse school community in which children speak over 20 different languages and a vibrant mix of cultures and religions learn together in harmony.

The staff at Lower Fields have high expectations of all the children, and would like them to leave school as confident, polite and independent young people, with the appropriate skills, values and learning to become successful in whatever their eventual career paths will be.

We have agreed three academy expectations that permeate the teaching and management of behaviour and conduct:
✓ Be safe
✓ Be respectful
✓ Be responsible

The children are at the heart of every decision we make to ensure that they are happy, confident and that the opportunities that are provided for them are relevant to their needs both now and in the future. On entering our school all pupils are allocated a ‘Key Worker’ who acts as a link between school and home. Our dedicated pastoral team work tirelessly with any pupils needing additional behavioural, mental, social or emotional support to fully access all the learning experiences on offer.

We follow a reading enhanced curriculum, centred around a text, which is linked to our termly themes. Through this engaging curriculum, we ensure that children can foster a passion for learning and curiosity that will help to develop high aspirations and a lifetime of memories. We believe in ensuring that children receive a well-rounded curriculum: including specialist music and sport teaching where individual talents can be spotted and nurtured.

Lower Fields also has extensive, well-resourced outdoor learning facilities, which enable us to embed skills across the curriculum and deliver the Forest Schools Programme.

The school works hard to develop successful relationships with parents, the local community and the other schools in our area. We firmly believe that education is a partnership between home and school and regard you as an active partner in your child’s education and value your interest and support.

I hope that this website will give you as much information as possible about our school, the staff and the many activities that our children enjoy through our curriculum and our extra-curricular activities.
