Welcome to Class 6G

Our class teachers are Mr Gallucci

Our teaching assistants are Mrs Nagmeen (Tuesday and Wednesdays), Miss Pawson (Monday, Thursday and Fridays), Mrs Sullivan.

Our class identity: The Foxes

In Year 6 children need to provide their own named water bottle. These can be bought from the office for 50p or one can be brought in from home. Water bottles will go home each day and should be returned in the morning with fresh water.

PE

PE is on Mondays and Wednesdays, a full PE kit should be kept in school at all times. We will also closely monitor uniform so please check the uniform list.

Home Reading

Year 6 are part of the Accelerated Reading scheme. This involves reading for at least 20 minutes every day in school and assessing their understanding through online quizzes. They will benefit from reading as much as possible at home and books can be changed once a quiz has been successfully completed. It is essential that every child has their book in school with them every day. Should the children wish to quiz outside of the AR time, they can do so in the ICT suite on one lunchtime a week or before and after school in the library.

Year 6 will also visit the library with their key worker to select a book of their choice half termly. It is their responsibility to change their book if required.

Diaries

Diaries will be used to collect house points, so you can see how well your child is doing, and for communication between home and school so they need to be in school every day. We will sign your child's diary on a Friday so please sign before then.

Key Workers

Each child in Year 6 has a key worker who works within the year group. Should you have any concerns about your child please contact their key worker.

Homework

  • Spellings: Spellings are stuck in diaries every Monday. The test will take place the following week.
  • Creative Homework: There will be a piece of Creative Work linked to each Topic; this is meant to be fun and flexible, something you can do together.

Maths/English-homework will be given out every Thursday (alternate maths and English.) It needs to be completed and returned to school by the following Tuesday. Closer to SATs this will be replaced with a SATs revision book.
